Attention should be paid to the export of wooden products

2025-06-24

The export of wooden products should focus on the technical regulations, packaging processing standards, document compliance, and quality control system of the target country. Export enterprises need to ensure that their products meet the requirements of formaldehyde, heavy metals and other indicators of the importing country, use wooden packaging that has been fumigated and bears the IPPC logo, and prepare core documents such as plant quarantine certificates and certificates of origin. ‌‌‌‌

Core compliance requirements

Technical standard matching:

It must comply with the technical regulations of the importing country (such as the EU REACH regulation and the US CARB certification), and comply with mandatory Chinese standards when there are no clear requirements. ‌‌

High risk project testing: Formaldehyde, heavy metals, and flame retardancy testing of raw materials such as paint and adhesives must be reported by CNAS accredited laboratories. ‌‌

Packaging and labeling standards

Wood packaging treatment:

All wooden packaging must be fumigated and stamped with the IPPC logo, with special attention paid to countries such as the United States/Canada/European Union/Japan and South Korea that strictly implement the ISPM 15 standard. ‌‌‌‌

Alternative solution: Using fumigation free materials (such as plywood pallets) can reduce customs clearance delays. ‌‌

Key Document List

Essential documents:

Plant quarantine certificate (valid for 21 days). ‌‌

Certificate of Origin (such as Form E, which can reduce Thai tariffs from 20% to 0%). ‌‌

Quality compliance statement (including a statement of matching the technical standards of the input country). ‌‌
